This Incredible Photo Of The French Dispatch Cast At Cannes Was Perfect Meme Fodder

The Cannes Film Festival is back with a bang for 2021 – and one photo from the event in particular has managed to snatch Twitter’s attention.

One of the most-hyped offerings this year is Wes Anderson’s The French Dispatch, which boasts an all-star cast including Frances McDormand, Benicio Del Toro, Jeffrey Wright, Owen Wilson, Willem Dafoe and Saoirse Ronan.

To help promote the film, a number of cast members are currently in Cannes, with one group snap featuring the director with Timothée Chalamet, Tilda Swinton and Bill Murray raising eyebrows.

It’s not just the sheer star power of the photo that’s got people talking, though.

As you can see for yourself, there’s something of a disparity in the looks each of them are serving, with Timothée giving us typical Gen Z casj, Wes sporting an all-white ensemble, Tilda going all out in an elaborate blue suit and Bill serving what we can only describe as “dad out for an afternoon stroll in Benidorm” realness.

After it was first shared online, the picture of quickly began doing the rounds on social media, with many turning it into a meme comparing the foursome to all kinds of things, from streaming platforms and social media networks to Covid vaccines…

Our personal favourite has to be this extremely literal interpretation of the joke, though:

And while some stuck to the established meme format, others had their own fun with the star-studded snap:

The French Dispatch was filmed in 2018, and was initially supposed to make its debut at Cannes last year.

However, due to the pandemic, its release was pushed back a whole year, with the film slated to hit cinemas in the autumn.

Love Island’s Faye Hailed For Iconic ‘Unbothered’ Reaction To New Arrival

Love Island’s Faye Winter has earned a whole new army of fans after the latest developments on the ITV2 reality show – despite not actually being at the centre of the drama.

The 26-year-old lettings manager had a comical reaction when new bombshell AJ Bunker made her entrance on Wednesday night.

Faye also made her feelings known when Lucinda Strafford chose not to follow partner Brad McClelland out of the villa.

The couple were forced to agree on which of them should leave the show, after the public voted them the least compatible pairing.

Brad quickly asserted that he should be the one to go, having been in the villa for longer, insisting it would be a great opportunity for Lucinda to stay.

However, that did not impress Faye, who raged that the Islanders were supposed to be in the villa to find love, not “opportunities” and had to take herself off somewhere to cool off.

Many people believed that Faye had a point…

Later in the episode, AJ made her entrance and chatted to the boys as the girls were forced to watch on from the balcony.

And while many of her fellow Islanders were busy speculating and gossiping about AJ, Faye tried to demonstrate how unbothered she was by sitting down to file her nails, creating an iconic meme in the process…

Awkwardly though, it seems like Faye has the most to worry about, as prior to entering the villa, AJ admitted she has her eye on Teddy Soares, who Faye is currently coupled up with.

“There is something about Teddy. He’s a bit of me,” she said. “In terms of being adventurous and spontaneous, I think we’d get on really well.”

AJ insisted that she would be respectful to Faye, but would not hesitate in pursuing Teddy.

“I’ll definitely approach her and have a conversation beforehand. But I wouldn’t hold back,” she said.

Love Island continues on Thursday at 9pm on ITV2 and ITV Hub.
