Strictly Come Dancing’s Danny John-Jules Reveals He Collapsed During Rehearsals

‘Strictly Come Dancing’ contestant Danny John-Jules has revealed he collapsed while in rehearsals for the show.

The actor passed out while preparing for his performance last weekend, which saw him awarded the first 10 of the series

Danny John-Jules was awarded 37 points out of 40 for his Jive on Saturday

Speaking on spin-off show ‘It Takes Two’, Danny told host Zoe Ball of the exhaustion he felt while doing a run-through at the show’s studios on Friday.

He said: “It’s cardio, fitness. I haven’t moved like that since a long time. You worry about slowing down and if you slow down it’s a bit of a no-no.

“I did collapse after the second run, the tech run on Friday. The floor manager looked down at me looking up at the ceiling and asked me: ‘Do you want to do another one?’”

The 58-year-old former ‘Death In Paradise’ star added that his knees were screaming “louder than” his professional dance partner Amy Dowden after Saturday’s live show, which saw him perform a Jive to ‘Flip, Flop And Fly’ by Ellis Hall.

As well as the first 10 of the series, the pair received a total of 37 points out of a possible 30, as well as a standing ovation from all of the judges bar Craig Revel Horwood.

Admitting the show-stopping routine was a “blur” and it took a while to process his success, he said: “When I finished, I looked at Amy and only then I realised it had been good.

“I was still in a daze when I got to the judges and it didn’t sink in until a day later when all the messages started coming in from social media.”

This week will see the pair taking on an American Smooth to ‘Spirit In The Sky’ by Doctor and the Medics as part of the annual Halloween special

‘Strictly Come Dancing’ airs on Saturday at 6.50pm on BBC One.
