‘Strictly Come Dancing’: Anton Du Beke Claims Seann Walsh And Katya Jones Were Overmarked For First Post-Kiss Dance

Seann Walsh and Katya Jones were overmarked for their most recent ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ performance, according to professional dancer Anton Du Beke

The pair took to the floor on Saturday for the first time since they were caught kissing during a night out to perform a Charleston, which received 28 out of 40 from the judges.

However, Anton has spoken out against the scoring, which came after a week of headlines about Seann and Katya’s private lives.

Appearing on ‘This Morning’, Anton was asked for his thoughts on the furore, and whether they were lucky to survive the public vote.

Speaking to hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield, he said: “What I do believe is that they were kindly marked on the night – they got higher marks than I thought the dance deserved.

“It did have a great performance value, Katya’s choreography is always brilliant. But I thought technically it wasn’t there.”

He added: “That’s just my opinion but I think the audience at home have a bigger role to play this year than ever before.”

Anton previously described the controversial kiss between Seann and Katya as “disappointing on many levels”, adding he didn’t have any sympathy for them over the backlash they faced.

“I’ll tell you one thing, I’m a bit disappointed,” he said during an interview on Irish radio station RTE Radio 1.

“I don’t know how they’re going to resolve it in their relationships but it’s their business and they must do that.

He added: “I am disappointed on many levels… listen, don’t drink – if that’s what happens? Stop. Don’t drink! Practise, don’t drink.”

Seann and Katya will return to the ‘Strictly’ floor once again this weekend, where they will take on a Quickstep to ‘Lightning Bolt’ by Jake Bugg.

Meanwhile, Seann’s now ex-girlfriend channelled Beyoncé in her latest Instagram post, in which she alluded to her recent break-up.

‘Strictly Come Dancing’ continues on Saturday at 6.45pm on BBC One, while ‘This Morning’ airs weekdays at 10.30am on ITV.
