‘Black Mirror’ Series 5 Tipped To Include ‘Choose-Your-Own-Ending’ Feature

Netflix is to break new ground with the upcoming fifth series of ‘Black Mirror’ by introducing a choose-your-own-adventure feature, according to reports.

The streaming service has already featured a similar device in their children’s programming, with the animated show ‘Puss In Book’ allowing young viewers to decide which direction the lead character’s journey goes in.

As reported by Bloomberg, Netflix is hoping to introduce a similar feature in the forthcoming series of ‘Black Mirror’, which they have slated for release in December.

Originally airing for two years on Channel 4, ‘Black Mirror’ was later acquired by Netflix and has gone on to become one of the platform’s stand-out shows.

Each episode of the dystopian anthology series is set in a different world with a new cast and, crucially, distinct technological advances in each episode.

Issues explored in the show’s most famous episodes include online privacy, the pitfalls of social media, trolling and internet dating.

'USS Callister' won Outstanding TV Movie at the Emmys this year

Although it’s not known what the upcoming episodes will focus on, filming began earlier this year, with fans spotting that a shopping centre in Croydon had been given a 1980s makeover specifically for the show.

Thanks to its popularity online, ‘Black Mirror’ has continued to go from strength to strength, with the episode ‘USS Callister’ scooping Outstanding Television Movie at this year’s Emmys.

This marked the second year in a row that a ‘Black Mirror’ episode received the accolade, with the critically acclaimed ‘San Junipero’ winning the same honour in 2017.
