‘Survival Of The Fittest’ Axed By ITV After Just One Series

‘Survival Of The Fittest’, the ITV reality show that was touted as the winter ‘Love Island’, has been axed after just one series.

Hosted by Laura Whitmore, the show was shot on location in South Africa, and saw a teams of boys and girls battling against each other in a luxury lodge, for a cash prize.

'Survival Of The Fittest' has been axed

Coming from the same production company that made ‘Love Island’, hopes had been high for the show, which premiered in February.

However, it appears it wasn’t received well enough to justify its production costs.

At the show’s most peek, ‘Survival Of The Fittest’ reached a viewership of just 600,000.

Of the show’s cancellation, an ITV spokesperson told The Sun: “There are no current plans for a further series of ‘Survival Of The Fittest’. It was an ambitious and brilliantly produced show and we’d like to thank Laura, Brennan and all the team who worked on it.”

Dani Dyer was a contestant on the show

Dani Dyer, daughter of ‘EastEnders’ star Danny Dyer, had appeared on the show before falling and injuring her shoulder in the first episode, forcing her to pull out.

She went on to be a contestant on sister show ‘Love Island’, eventually winning the series with boyfriend Jack Fincham.
