Cardi B Laughs At Her ‘Haters’ During iHeartRadio Awards Acceptance Speech

Since her rise to prominence last year, rapper Cardi B has become as known for her irreverence and no-filter attitude as she has her music, a reputation she more than lived up to at the iHeartRadio Music Awards on Sunday (11 March).

During the ceremony, which kicked off with a joint performance from Cardi and G-Eazy, Cardi was named Best New Artist, beating stiff competition from the likes of Niall Horan, Khalid and Luke Combs.

Understandably excited, Cardi was as chatty as ever as she delivered her acceptance speech, complete with plenty of “okurrrr” and “owwww” asides, and even a sign-off to her “haters”.

After thanking her team, record label and family, she continued: “Who else? Um. I wanna thank my man, owwww.”

She continued: “I wanna thank my fans… because even when I’m wrong, they be like, ‘she’s still right’.

“And I wanna thank my haters, too, because… ah ha ha ha ha.”

Yes, that’s right, she literally laughed in the face of her haters.

Cardi added: “They be downloading my stuff so they can hear it and talk crap about it… but it benefits me! Ha ha ha!”

She then signed off with the news that her much-awaited debut album would be coming in April, which is expected to feature her smash hit ‘Bodak Yellow’, which became the second ever solo single for a female rap artist to top the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the US.

The first woman to achieve this feat was Lauryn Hill, whose track ‘Doo Wop (That Thing)’ hit number one in 1998, almost 20 years before ‘Bodak Yellow’.
