Black Friday 2017 is here and once again we find ourselves overwhelmed with the high street’s biggest retailers trying to convince us we need all the new things.
Whether it’s a new TV, smart speaker or games console there’s sometimes too much information to take in.
To help keep things clear, simple and above all genuinely useful we’ve only focused on the major retailers and we’re only showing products that we think represent a genuine bargain. Too often we’ll see a ‘Black Friday Deal’ and realise that two weeks earlier it had been ever cheaper.
When is Black Friday?
Most Black Friday deals are available online and in store from now until Cyber Monday (27 November) and the retailer promises to match or beat any price from any other major retailer. Here are some of the best buys.
Currys PC World Black Friday Gadget Deals
Google Home, the Wi-Fi speaker system that doubles up as a smart home control centre with built-in Google Assistant, has had its price slashed by £51 and is on offer at £78. Use it to stream music, radio and podcasts throughout your home, answer your questions, create to-do lists and even set wake-up calls and turn on room lights. The Google Home Mini, which has a more basic speaker is reduced too. It’s down from £49 to £34.
Amazon Echo Dot, does everything that Amazon Echo does, but the speaker is not as high quality. The Alexa-enabled smart device is designed to answer your questions, provide alarms and alerts, read out recipes and control your smart home applications. It can also connect to other home speakers for higher quality sound. It will even fit inside a Christmas stocking, grab it while it’s discounted by £15 to £34.99. If you want the actual Amazon Echo, it’s reduced £20 this week to £69.99.
Amazon’s excellent Fire HD 10 tablet has also been given a cut in price to £109.99 from £149.99. This is a great no-frills family tablet that’s easy-to-use can run apps, games and stream video from Netflix. Amazon’s tablets are also fairly indestructible so it’s going to survive being lost down the sofa a few times too.
Black Friday Gaming Deals
This is without doubt one of the best we’ve seen yet for gaming. You can buy a PlayStation 4 Pro + Gran Turismo Sport + Call of Duty WWII + Fallout 4 for £229. That’s a saving of £177.97.
Gamers, parents or friends who are looking to get started from scratch with Sony’s 4K-powered PlayStation 4 Pro should check out this deal, it’s more expensive but it’s a great starter pack and it’s still really good value.
You get a white Sony PlayStation 4 Pro + Wireless Controller Docking Station + PS Plus 3 Month Subscription + Call of Duty WWII + Gran Turismo Sport + Fallout 4 for £330 which saves around £182.
If you want Microsoft’s Xbox One then we’ve got an equally impressive collection of bundles.
You can get the Xbox One S + Extra Wireless Controller + Minecraft + Battlefront 2 + Doom + Fallout 4 + Forza 7 for £250. That’s a saving of £217.
If big-budget games are more your bag then you can get the Xbox One S + Assassin’s Creed Origins + Battlefront 2 + Doom + Fallout 4 + Forza 7 for £209.99 which is a saving of £192.
What’s really good about both these deals is that they’re almost the cost of an Xbox One S completely on its own. The Xbox One S is not an old console either, it’s an updated version of the original Xbox One and offers HDR gaming as well as 4K Blu-ray playback.
Black Friday Home Electronics Deals

If you need a new washing machine this is the place to come, with hundreds of pounds being wiped off regular prices as part of the Black Tag event. While the Beko WTB841R2W 8 kg 1400 spin washing machine has seen its price tumble from £349.99 to £189.
Finally, Dyson’s V6 Animal Extra handheld hoover has dropped considerably in price on its website to £199 from £370. Now it’s important to note that these hoover’s fluctuate in price wildly depending on seasonal deals but this is probably the cheapest you’re going to get the V6 for at least the next few months.
