Britney Spears Speaks Out Following Release Of Documentary In Poignant Instagram Post

Britney Spears has shared an Instagram post reminding fans that “no matter what we think we know about a person’s life, it is nothing compared to the actual person living behind the lens”.

The chart-topping singer made the comment just days after the documentary Framing Britney Spears debuted in the US, exploring the star’s conservatorship, which has seen her father Jamie Spears overseeing her estate for more than a decade.

Alongside a video of herself performing live three years ago, Britney said: “I’ll always love being on stage… but I am taking the time to learn and be a normal person.

“I love simply enjoying the basics of everyday life!!!! Each person has their story and their take on other people’s stories!!!! We all have so many different bright beautiful lives!!!”

She added: “Remember, no matter what we think we know about a person’s life it is nothing compared to the actual person living behind the lens.”

Britney has been under a conservatorship since 2008, and last year requested to have her father removed as her legal guardian.

Her attorney said that Britney will no longer perform as long as her dad is her conservator, claiming the singer had told him “on many occasions” that she is “afraid” of her father.

Framing Britney Spears debuted last week, and unpacks whether or not the court-ordered conservatorship Britney is under is warranted, and how it began in first place.

It also delves into the the #FreeBritney movement, a mass of fans who adamantly believe the singer is being held “hostage” by the conservatorship and are demanding her freedom via protests.

Britney herself acknowledged the #FreeBritney movement in court papers last year, which said she “welcomes and appreciates the informed support of her many fans”.

Sam Asghari has been in a relationship with Britney since 2016

On Tuesday evening, Britney’s boyfriend Sam Asghari shared a far more direct social media post, branding Jamie Spears a “total dick”.

“I won’t be going into details because I’ve always respected our privacy but at the same time I didn’t come to this country to not be able to express my opinion and freedom,” he wrote on his Instagram story.
