Ordering a bottle of wine in a restaurant (remember those?) without checking the wine list first is always a risky business.
Just ask Chrissy Teigen.
The US star has shared a story about doing just that after asking her Twitter followers for “the most expensive thing you’ve eaten that you thought sucked”.
She then recalled a time when she dined out with her husband John Legend and asked the waiter to recommend a “nice Cabernet”.
“One time John and I were at a restaurant and the waiter recommended a nice Cabernet,” she tweeted.
“We got the bill and it was 13,000 dollars. HOW DO U CASUALLY RECOMMEND THAT WINE. We didn’t even finish it and it had been cleared!!!”
That’s nine and a half thousand British pounds. Ouch.
However, after sharing the story, Chrissy had to defend herself after some accused her of flaunting her wealth.
Following the backlash, Chrissy said: “Hey, not everything I say on my twitter is going to be relatable to you because it is my life and my twitter and my stories. I see your tweets, I get your jokes, you are so funny, yes, you really nailed me.”
She said it was a story about “getting screwed over by a waiter”.
The author and presenter had earlier revealed Jack, the son she and John lost in September, was due to be born this week.
Chrissy said she is preparing to undergo surgery for endometriosis, a condition where tissue similar to the womb lining grows elsewhere, causing painful periods.
“My little jack would have been born this week so I’m a bit off,” she tweeted.
“I truly feel kicks in my belly, but it’s not phantom. I have surgery for endometriosis tomorrow…but the period feeling this month is exactly like baby kicks. sigh.”
Chrissy also posted a video showing her stomach moving due to endometriosis and said she pretends it is Jack “saying hi”.
