Hip hop legend Dr. Dre has been hospitalised after suffering a suspected brain aneurysm ― but he assured his fans on Tuesday night that he was “doing great.”
The 55-year-old music producer and rapper suffered the aneurysm on Monday and was rushed to Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, according to TMZ.
The Los Angeles Times later confirmed the news and said Dre ― who had been in the intensive care unit at one point ― was in stable condition as of Tuesday night.
Shortly after the L.A. Times published its story, Dre posted a message of thanks to his fans on his Instagram page.
“I’m doing great and getting excellent care from my medical team,” the message said. “I will be out of the hospital and back home soon.”
TMZ noted that the music mogul was due to appear in court Wednesday for a divorce hearing.
Dre for months has been locked in a messy divorce battle with Nicole Young, who is seeking $2 million a month in spousal support and $5 million in lawyer fees.
Wednesday’s hearing is still scheduled to take place as planned but will likely be postponed, according to E! News.
The six-time Grammy award-winner founded Beats Electronics in 2008 with music mogul Jimmy Iovine, which produces the hugely successful range of Beats headphones.
The pair also launched a streaming subscription service, Beats Music. Apple acquired both in a $3bn deal in 2014.
