The internet has only just recovered from Nigella Lawson’s microwave saga, but the TV chef has already got people talking again with her latest cookery antics.
Nigella debuted a hack for proving dough on the Christmas special of her cookery series Cook Eat Repeat on Tuesday night, and let’s just say, it could not be more Nigella.
Rather than stick it in a proving drawer or use a bit of cling film, Nigella raided her bathroom and used a shower cap – and a leopard print one at that.
Iconic.
The moment soon caught the attention of popular meme account Love Of Huns on Instagram, who joked that Nigella’s hack “shows that you really can incorporate leopard print into EVERY aspect of your life”.
While Nigella has been cooking up a load of traditional treats for her TV show, she’ll be making a big change to her Christmas dinner this year in light of the new coronavirus restrictions.
She told the BBC’s Newscast podcast that she felt following her usual festive traditions while not having “a family Christmas” due to Covid-19 would make her “feel what’s missing”.
“I actually – and I only made the decision a couple of days ago – for the first time ever, I am not going to do a turkey – and I always do. I’m doing pork,” she said.
“It’s not going to be a normal family Christmas, therefore I think I will feel less sad doing something that is just a lovely lunch, that takes in a few Christmas traditions from elsewhere that interest me, but does not… make me feel what’s missing.”
She added: “I would have thought, for many people, the strange conditions under which we live will make them want to cleave to the traditions, and not add new and different things.”
Earlier this month, the TV chef sent the internet into a spin with the unusual way she pronounced the word “microwave” – something she was quick to explain as just being a “camp joke”.
