Strictly Come Dancing finalist HRVY has shared the touching reason he feels determined to bring home the glitterball trophy this year.
HRVY is one of four stars vying for the title of the 2020 Strictly champion in Saturday night’s live final, and looks in good stead to be crowned this year’s winner, having impressed the judges and avoided the bottom two every week of the competition.
Speaking ahead of this year’s final, the pop singer said that he already has plans for the coveted glitterball trophy, admitting he intends to give it to his nan – who he hasn’t been able to see in months due to Covid-19 restrictions – if he does win.
“On the night of the final it’s my nan and grandad’s 60th diamond jubilee wedding anniversary,” he revealed.
“They have watched every single Strictly, every single show, never missed a show since the beginning. I said to my nan, genuinely, if I win and I get a glitterball you can put it in your house, on your fireplace.”
HRVY added: “I’d take a picture of it with me next to it and I’d have that photo in my house, but I honestly will give the glitterball to my nan because she loves Strictly so much it would actually make her life…”
If HRVY is crowned this year’s Strictly champion, it’ll be the first win ever for his professional partner Janette Manrara, after eight years with the show.
He’s up against EastEnders actor Maisie Smith, reality star Jamie Laing and comedian Bill Bailey in the final, with Maisie and Jamie having been in the dance-off twice and four times before, respectively.
Like HRVY, Bill has never been in the dance-off, and if he were to win the show, professional Oti Mabuse would be the first dancer ever to win Strictly two years in a row.
