Great British Bake Off’s Laura Reveals Message Of Support From Emilia Clarke

Great British Bake Off finalist Laura Adlington has revealed the actual Queen of Dragons slid into her DMs to show her support during the most recent series.

Laura made it to the final three of this year’s Bake Off, and made no secret of the fact she struggled with some of the harsh abuse she had faced on social media from supposed fans of the show.

However, during an appearance on spin-off show Extra Slice, she insisted there had been an upside to her new-found fame, including a private message she received from Emilia Clarke, best known for her role as Daenarys in Game Of Thrones.

She told presenter Jo Brand: “Emilia Clarke, mother of Dragons from Game Of Thrones, sent me a message.

“It just said, ‘Laura, me and my friends love you. Thanks for brightening up our lockdown. We hope you win’.”

“I think she called me a ‘baking queen’,” Laura added. “So my life is now complete, quite frankly. Friends with Matt Lucas and Emilia Clarke. Doesn’t get better than that, does it?”

Laura, a musical theatre superfan, previously revealed at the beginning of the series how she’d been starstruck when she first met Bake Off presenter Matt Lucas, having previously watched him perform in Les Misérables.

This year’s Bake Off came to an end earlier this week, with Peter Sawkins becoming the youngest champion in the show’s 11-year history.

He beat Laura and fellow competitor Dave Friday in what Paul Hollywood said was one of the closest Bake Off finals ever.
