I’m A Celebrity has announced the arrival of two new campmates – and true to form, their stay in the castle will get off to a gruesome start.
Opera singer Russell Watson and West End star Ruthie Henshall are set to join the ITV reality show on Wednesday night.
The pair will make their debut during an Bushtucker Trial called Stage Fright, hosts Ant and Dec revealed on Tuesday evening.
Speaking ahead of her arrival at the castle, former Dancing On Ice judge Ruthie said: “There is a big difference between the known and the unknown and the unknown is really a bit scary.
“Going in late you are suddenly feeling much more on show. You have to bring something to the table.”
Meanwhile, Russell said he has been “training like a lunatic” for the last couple of weeks ahead of entering the castle.
He said: “I’ve got one of those Peloton bikes and last week I did nearly 60 miles on it and I’ve been hammering the weights and everything so I feel like I’m in a good place at the moment to go in there and take on some challenges and also I’m a very competitive human being.”
Both Ruthie and Russell were previously rumoured for this year’s I’m A Celebrity after they were spotted at what was believed to be a photo-shoot for the new series last month.
Russell later dropped a number of hints in interviews that he would be joining the ITV show as a late entrant.
Tuesday night’s show also saw Jordan North, Vernon Kay and Beverley Callard earn 10 stars for camp after they took on the first eating challenge of the series, where Vernon had one particularly grim encounter with a deer’s testicle.
See how Ruthie and Russell fare in their first trial, Stage Fright, as I’m A Celebrity continues on Wednesday night at 9pm on ITV.
