ITV has spoken out about reports This Morning’s presenting line-up is set to undergo a shake-up.
Over the weekend, The Sun reported that Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford were being dropped from their usual Friday morning presenting slot, and would instead only be called on to front the daytime show over the summer holidays.
The tabloid also claimed that the married presenting duo were being replaced by Dermot O’Leary and This Morning staple Alison Hammond, who won the thumbs up from viewers when they hosted together earlier in the year.
However, a spokesperson for ITV has now set the record straight, insisting that no changes to their presenting line-up had been confirmed.
“We have a stellar presenting lineup on This Morning in Holly & Phillip and Eamonn & Ruth,” a representative told Digital Spy.
“Any additions to this lineup will be announced in due course.”
Alison Hammond has long been a favourite of This Morning viewers, winning praise for her (usually chaotic) cooking segments and laugh-out-loud celebrity interviews.
Last week, This Morning aired an interview between Alison and Kylie Minogue, which saw the presenter recreating the iconic Can’t Get You Out Of My Head video, complete with full choreography and outfit changes.
Meanwhile, Eamonn and Ruth have presented This Morning together since 2006, filling in for Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby on Fridays and during school holidays.
Earlier this year, Eamonn came under fire when he appeared to defend a debunked conspiracy theory linking 5G and the Covid-19 pandemic.
This led Ofcom to “issue guidance to ITV and its presenters” regarding discussing such topics on air.
This Morning airs every weekday from 10am on ITV.
