Great British Bake Off’s Axed Baker’s Goodbye Letter Was Just As Moving As You’d Expect

Former Great British Bake Off contestant Marc has penned an emotional letter following his elimination during Tuesday’s episode.

Marc was sent packing after his jelly art cake in this week’s Showstopper Challenge was compared to “concrete” by judge Paul Hollywood.

After his exit aired, an open letter from Marc was shared on the official Bake Off Twitter account, in which he described taking part in the Channel 4 show as “the most crazy, intense, wonderful, once in a lifetime experience”.

Marc was axed from The Great British Bake Off

He wrote: “I feel honoured to be part of this year’s Great British Bake Off! The bond and friendships made this year are extra special as we were living, baking and socialising 24/7.”

Marc also said that being able to share the “bonkers experience” with his daughters and dog Hamish, who also moved into the Bake Off bubble at Down Hall hotel during filming, had “just made it one of the most memorable periods of my life”.

He added: “A massive thank you to Love Productions, the amazing camera and sound crew, the food team, the runners, the Down Hall staff for making us so welcome. Love you all – Marc :).”

Dessert Week saw the bakers creating canapé-sized cheesecakes, while Prue Leith tasked them with a Technical Challenge that took them back to the 18th century – and it’s fair to say the Sussex Pond Puddings prompted some strong reactions on Twitter.

Meanwhile, it was Hermine who was crowned Star Baker for the second week running.

Following Marc’s elimination, four contestants are now left in the running to be crowned this year’s Bake Off champion, with next week marking the semi-final of the competition.

Great British Bake Off continues next Tuesday at 8pm on Channel 4.
