The Masked Singer US Has Once Again Knocked It Out Of The Park With Its Celeb Bookings

The US version of The Masked Singer has got a reputation for featuring an array of top notch names, and things were no different after the latest unmasking.

American chat show legend Wendy Williams was revealed as one of the mysterious singing celebrities on the madcap series on Wednesday night.

She was unmasked as the voice behind the giant lips costume, much to the shock of panellists Ken Jeong and Robin Thicke – although Nicole Scherzinger and Jenny McCarthy had correctly guessed her identity.

Wendy Williams was unmasked on The Masked Singer

Wendy was just the latest in a line of impressive bookings for the show, which has seen rapper Busta Ryhmes and Oscar winner Mickey Rourke umasked in the last few weeks.

Mickey made history for the show last month, when he became the first celebrity to ever unmask himself, quitting the show after becoming too hot in his costume.

The other stars who have so far been unmasked are actor Brian Austin Green and former NFL player Mark Sanchez, while 11 unidentified celebrities still remain in the competition.

Following Wendy’s unmasking, she couldn’t help but make a quip about host Nick Cannon’s previous marriage to Mariah Carey, after Ken had incorrectly guessed Mimi was behind the lips.

“Are you two going to get back together eventually?!” she asked. “You belong together!”

Nick, who has maintained a close relationship with Mariah after splitting with the singer in 2016, laughed off the question.

It was recently confirmed that a new series of the UK version of The Masked Singer had completed filming, with comedian Mo Gilligan joining the panel in place of Ken Jeong.

It is due to air on ITV in early 2021.
