Only Shirley Bassey Could Make A Covid-Compliant Outfit This Fabulously Camp And Instantly Iconic

There’s no denying’s been a pretty dark week – but thank goodness Dame Shirley Bassey is here to bring some much-needed sparkle to proceedings (and then some).

The Welsh singer has celebrated her 70-year career in showbusiness with what can only be described as an absolutely iconic Covid-compliant photoshoot.

A sequin-clad Shirley matched her facemask to her glittering gold dress for the snap, which gives Strictly Come Dancing a run for its money in the camp stakes.

Shirley was photographed in Italy this autumn ahead of the release of her first new album in more than five years.

I Owe It All To You, due for release on Decca Records, is being described as a “grand finale” and will be dedicated to her fans.

Shirley sans mask, but being just as iconic

It will include both new material written especially for the 83-year-old, as well as tracks chosen to reflect her life and career, during which she has released 70 albums and sold nearly 140 million records.

Some of Dame Shirley’s biggest hits include the theme songs to the James Bond films Goldfinger, Diamonds Are Forever and Moonraker.

The new album will be released on Decca Records next month.
