Glenn Close is getting in the Halloween spirit a little early this year, returning to one of her most famous characters – Cruella De Vil.
The 73-year-old star played the iconic Disney villain in two different live-action films, and revealed on Instagram that she’s bringing her back in honour of Bette Midler’s virtual Halloween bash this year.
However, if you’ve noticed Cruella is looking ever so slightly less polished than usual, that’s because Glenn has put the outfit together herself, using mostly items she already had in the house.
Posting a photo of herself striking her best Cruella pose, Glenn revealed that her “cigarette holder” was actually a chopstick she’d painted red, while her iconic ’do is actually a Halloween wig she ordered off the internet.
Her Cruella gloves were also homemade, while the fur she’s seen sporting was actually something she previously wore during her recent Oscar-nominated turn in The Wife.
And that fashionable leopard print scarf? It’s actually a pair of silk long johns.
Explaining how she did her own make-up, she wrote: “Didn’t have a really pale base so I tried baby powder. Looks weird on the side of my face. Not a rousing success.
“Also needed a liquid eyeliner…next time.”
It was recently revealed that Cruella was getting her own spin-off film, which will be the latest in a long line of live-action remakes featuring classic Disney characters.
The new film will be a prequel exploring Cruella’s back story, with Emma Stone appearing in the starring role as the Dalmatian-obsessed fashionista, who first appeared Disney’s classic animation 101 Dalmatians.
