Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield returned to This Morning on Monday and couldn’t hide just how delighted they were to be reunited on the ITV show.
The presenting duo, who have been on their annual summer break for the last few months, shared a hug as they returned to the studio.
But as we’re still living in strange times, Holly and Phil made sure they adhered to social distancing for their embrace by using a plastic screen with built in arm coverings.
Awwwwww.
“What are we going to call this are we calling this, the cuddle curtain?” Holly enquired.
“Is it weird I’m really excited about this?” Holly continued. “If you had done this this time last year I would have thought you were some sort of weirdo, but this year I’m all over this.”
Phillip added: “It’s made of thick plastic which means that we can actually give each other a hug.”
After the pair embraced, Holly said: “I don’t want to let go. Now we’ve touched it we are the only ones that can touch it so can we keep cuddle curtain in the corner?”
Holly has been isolating for the last two weeks after returning from a family holiday in Portugal.
The 39-year-old presenter was forced to cut her break short to the luxury Quinta do Lago resort in the Algarve so she could quarantine ahead of her return to the This Morning studio.
Last week she shared her excitement at being reunited with her “silver fox” Phillip.
Sharing a clip on Instagram of a preview of ITV’s favourite daytime TV shows, Holly wrote: “This September we are all back… a new term begins!
“Can’t wait to see you and be reunited with my Silver Fox (errrr just typed ‘silver fox’ in and my phone suggested an emoji!!!!!!!) … see you soon @thismorning @gmb @lorraine and @loosewomen.”
Holly recently shut down reports she was preparing to leave This Morning.
The presenter was the subject of a story in The Sun on Sunday, claiming she has “paved the way” to exit the daytime show and focus more on primetime series.
The report came after it was revealed Holly has walked away from the company who managed her career – and also look after This Morning co-host Phillip Schofield’s – to set up a firm of her own.
However, a representative for the star has insisted she still has a future with the ITV daytime show, telling The Mirror: “Holly loves This Morning and working with Phil.
“She is the happiest that she’s ever been on the show and has no plans to leave.”
