Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? is to crown its sixth millionaire (seventh, if you include Major Charles Ingram), when the show returns to our screens in September.
For the first time since Jeremy Clarkson took over presenting duties, a contestant has managed to get all 15 of their questions right, bagging themselves the top prize of £1 million.
The presenter has described the new champion as “the best the show has ever had in its 22-year history”, explaining: “It felt like we whizzed through the 15 questions and all of a sudden, confetti was falling from the ceiling and I was saying ‘You’ve just won one million pounds’.
“I wasn’t sure I’d ever get to utter those immortal six words and I’m not embarrassed to say, it was a little emotional but boy did it feel good.”
The show’s latest winner landed their million pound prize under unusual circumstances, with the game show filming without a studio audience, meaning the regular Ask The Audience lifeline was replaced by a second Phone A Friend option.
Ahead of the moment itself debuting in September, we’re taking a look back at the seven contestants who previously pulled off the feat, and the questions that they got right to bag the top prize.
