Detectives investigating the fatal shooting of journalist Lyra McKee have arrested a 27-year-old man under Section 41 of the Terrorism Act 2000.
The Police Service of Northern Ireland said the man – who was arrested in Derry/Londonderry on Wednesday morning – had been taken to a police station in Belfast for questioning.
A house in Derry has also been searched by police.
McKee, who was 29, was shot while observing rioting in the Creggan area of Derry in April 2019.
The death of the reporter – described by friends as a “rising star” – caused shockwaves around the world.
She is believed to have been the first journalist killed on British soil in almost 20 years.
Her death helped kick-start political talks leading to the resumption of Stormont power sharing early this year.
In February, a 52-year-old man appeared in court charged with the author’s murder.
