UK Records 181 More Coronavirus Deaths In 24 Hours, Bringing Total To 41,662

The number of people who have died in the UK after testing positive for coronavirus has risen to 41,662 – an increase of 181 over 24 hours.

The figures cover the period up to 5pm on Friday.

The Department of Health and Social Care reported that another 1,425 people had tested positive for Covid-19, bringing the UK total to 294,375. 

It comes after the number of people who have died in hospitals across the UK, as well as care homes in Wales, after contracting the virus rose by 80 in 24 hours.

That increase consisted of 67 people in England, five in Scotland, six in Wales and two in Northern Ireland.
