This Morning favourite Alison Hammond has paid tribute to her father, Clifford, who died last week in Jamaica.
In an Instagram post shared on Wednesday morning, Alison expressed her sadness at not being able to attend his funeral, and lamented that they weren’t as close “as I would have liked”.
“This is my real Dad Clifford Hammond who passed away last week in Jamaica,” she wrote, alongside a photograph of her late father. “I’m saddened that I won’t be able to make his funeral and saddened that he wasn’t part of my life as much as I would have liked but I still have a sense of loss and emptiness.
“Sleep well Daddy, love leaves a memory no one can steal. RIP.”
A number of Alison’s colleagues shared tributes in the comments, including This Morning’s Holly Willoughby, Dr Ranj Singh, Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes, as well as her Strictly Come Dancing co-star Peter Andre.
Ruth wrote: “Sad to hear that darling… sending you love & a huge hug.”
Holly said she was “sending you so much love”, while the Mysterious Girl singer wrote: “All our love.”
Sadly, earlier this year, Alison also lost her mother, Maria, who died after being diagnosed with lung and liver cancer.
In a Valentine’s Day post, Alison wrote: “Today I dedicate Valentine’s Day to my beautiful, wonderful Mother Maria who passed away from liver and lung cancer.”
Alison added at the time: “Yesterday my family and I celebrated her amazing life and laid her to rest in a beautiful ceremony she would have been proud of. Thank you mummy for giving me the strength to move forward in the knowledge that your ok and with God in Heaven now.
“I will always remember you and try and make you proud . I love you mum.”
