Body Coach Joe Wicks Undergoes Surgery After Hand Balloons Due To Infection

Joe Wicks has been in hospital after his hand ballooned due to an infection following surgery earlier this year.

The Body Coach, who has been keeping the nation fit with his PE classes on YouTube during the coronavirus pandemic, had pins put in his hand after he broke a bone when he fell off his bike.

However, the fitness influencer was left in agony after it swelled up ahead of his Friday PE class.

After taking himself to hospital, Joe shared an X-ray of his hand saying he would be operated on because the soft tissue in his hand was “inflamed and possibly infected”, which he later confirmed was the case.

He also posted a video of himself “gowned up” with “the socks on” and waiting for his operation.

While he was due to have the operation on Friday, he later revealed it had been delayed until the following day.

“They’ve got other patients in the queue and they’re a bit slower than normal with certain things,” he said.

Joe added that the pain had been excruciating, saying: “I woke up all night… as it was throbbing and pulsating like liquid hot magma.”

Sharing an update with fans on Saturday morning from his hospital bed, he said: “Surgery complete. Wires all out. Infection cleaned up. They gave me a general anaesthetic which was awesome so didn’t feel a thing and was sparko.”

In March, Joe announced he was donating all of the revenue generated by the classes to help the National Health Service during the coronavirus crisis.

PE With Joe is every weekday morning at 9am on The Body Coach TV YouTube channel.
