Phoebe Waller-Bridge Reveals The Very Rude Prop She Kept From The Fleabag Set

Phoebe Waller-Bridge has revealed she has the “penis wall” from the first series of Fleabag proudly on display in her home.

As fans of Phoebe’s hit show may recall the “penis wall” formed a part of Godmother’s “Sexhibition” in the series one finale, with Olivia Colman’s character inviting Fleabag to guess which one was her father’s, and her ex-boyfriend’s.

During an interview from home in the latest lockdown edition of Graham Norton’s talk show – which will air on Friday night – Phoebe debuted the decorative prop, joking the moulded penises are “all here keeping me company”.

“We put it there temporarily because we didn’t know what to do with it,” she explained.

“Putting it in the kitchen felt too intense and putting it in one of the bedrooms can never go down well!”

Sharing one awkward encounter the “penis wall” has provided her in recent years, Phoebe continued: “You know how things in your own house become invisible to you? I’d completely forgotten about the 12 massive penises by the front door and a while ago a delivery man came in and bashed against them.

“Suddenly they became so visible to me and when I said sorry, he looked me in the eye and said, ‘It’s art. Never apologise for art’.”

Earlier this month, the stage show of Fleabag was made available to watch online for the first time, with proceeds going towards The National Emergencies Trust, NHS Charities Together and Acting For Others, as well as the newly-launched Fleabag Support Fund, which will distribute grants of £2,500 to freelancers working in the UK theatre industry, which has been deeply impacted by the crisis.

“Last year’s stage show recording is the only bit of Fleabag that I haven’t completely rinsed dry out in the world!” she joked during her Graham Norton interview. “So why not do it for a good cause?”
