Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s Fleabag Stage Show To Stream Online To Raise Money For Coronavirus Charities

If you weren’t one of the lucky ones who managed to get tickets to Fleabag’s live theatre show last year, good news – the whole thing is being put online.

And what’s even better is that it’s all to raise money for those affected  by the coronavirus pandemic.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge has teamed up with the National Theatre to make her one-woman show – which she reprised last year after it spawned the Bafta-winning BBC TV series – available to audiences across the globe.

Fans can access a recording of the sell-out West End show, which ran at London’s Wyndham Theatre in 2019, through Soho Theatre’s On Demand streaming service.

Viewers will be asked for a minimum £4 donation, with the recording then available to them for 48 hours.

Phoebe said in a statement: “I hope this filmed performance of Fleabag can help raise money while providing a little theatrical entertainment in these isolated times.

“Thank you to all our partners and to the creative team who have waived their royalties from this production to raise money for such vital causes in this unbelievably challenging situation.

“All money raised will support the people throughout our society who are fighting for us on the frontlines and those financially devastated by the crisis, including those in the theatre community. Thank you in advance to those who donate. Now go get into bed with Fleabag! It’s for charity! Px”.

Proceeds will go to charities including The National Emergencies Trust, NHS Charities Together and Acting For Others, as well as the newly-launched Fleabag Support Fund, which will distribute grants of £2,500 to freelancers working in the UK theatre industry, which has been deeply impacted by the crisis.

The production is available to stream in the UK as of 6 April, rolling out in other countries including Australia, New Zealand and Canada and the US from 10 April.
