JK Rowling ‘Completely Recovered’ After Showing ‘All Symptoms’ Of Coronavirus

JK Rowling has thanked fans for their messages of support after revealing she’d been experiencing symptoms of coronavirus for the last two weeks.

On Monday, the Harry Potter author tweeted a video to her 14.5 million followers of a doctor at Queens hospital, Romford, demonstrating breathing techniques intended to help those showing symptoms of Covid-19, the disease caused by coronavirus.

Alongside the clip, the 54-year-old revealed that for the last two weeks she’d shown “all symptoms” of coronavirus, and did the exercises in the video on the advice of her husband, who is a doctor.

“I’m fully recovered & technique helped a lot,” she explained.

She also stated that while she had shown symptoms, she had not been tested for coronavirus.

An hour later, she added: “Thank you for your kind and lovely messages! I really am completely recovered and wanted to share a technique that’s recommended by doctors, costs nothing, has no nasty side effects but could help you/your loved ones a lot, as it did me.

“Stay safe, everyone.”

Rowling announced last week that she was launching a new website titled Harry Potter At Home, full of activities for fans of the franchise to get stuck into while on lockdown.

She tweeted at the time: “Parents, teachers and carers working to keep children amused and interested while we’re on lockdown might need a bit of magic, so I’m delighted to launch HarryPotterAtHome.com”

A synopsis on the website explains: “Welcome to the Harry Potter At Home hub where you’ll find all the latest magical treats to keep you occupied – including special contributions from Bloomsbury and Scholastic, nifty magical craft videos (teach your friends how to draw a Niffler!), fun articles, quizzes, puzzles and plenty more for first-time readers, as well as those already familiar with the wizarding world.

“We’re casting a Banishing Charm on boredom!”
