Ed Miliband has made a return to frontline politics as new Labour leader Keir Starmer appointed MPs to his top team.
The former party leader is the new shadow business secretary, Labour announced today.
Starmer has made a decisive break with the Jeremy Corbyn era, with no fewer than 14 shadow ministers asked to stand down, including former deputy leadership candidates Richard Burgon and Dawn Butler.
Starmer’s rivals for the leadership were also handed positions, with Rebecca Long-Bailey moved to the education brief and Lisa Nandy promoted to be shadow foreign secretary.
David Lammy, meanwhile, becomes shadow justice secretary, and Rosena Allin-Khan is now shadow minister for mental health.
