Coronavirus Outbreak: UK Death Toll Rises To 578, A Jump Of 115

Some 578 people have now died in the UK after contracting coronavirus, the most recent government figures have revealed.

The number, which was accurate as of 5pm on Wednesday, marks a jump in fatalities of 115, with the official death toll as of 5pm on Tuesday standing at 463.

According to the department of health, 11,658 people had tested positive for Covid-19 in the UK as of 9am on Thursday. 

Almost 105,000 have now been tested for the virus. 

The first person in the UK to die after being diagnosed with coronavirus was announced on March 5.
