Linda Lusardi’s husband Sam Kane has revealed the former Loose Women star has “turned a corner’ after being “taken to death’s door’ by coronavirus.
Both Linda and Sam Kane were hospitalised on Friday after developing Covid-19 symptoms last week.
On Monday evening, the 61-year-old former Page 3 model – who remains in hospital – praised the NHS but admitted she still has “a way to go” until she’s made a full recovery.
“Just wanted to say thank you for all your kind words,” she tweeted. “My @samkane1968 went home from hospital today to carry on recovering.
“We both tested positive with the virus. I still have a way to go yet The NHS staff have been amazing. Their kindness keeps making me cry. Love to you all.”
Sam previously urged people to self-isolate, describing the virus as a “cruel, vile, remorseless, relentless, dark sickness’.
Posting on Facebook, he said: “I can’t stress enough that this is not ‘just a flu bug’. I’ve watched this take my girl to death’s door.
“I’ve felt it take me there. It’s a cruel, vile, remorseless, relentless, dark sickness. It was like three hands. One that’s strangling you. One pushing your face down as it does. The other one ripping your heart out of your chest and it just doesn’t stop… for days.
“You’re totally helpless and in its grasp. It’s nothing like flu.”
He then pleaded for everyone to follow the government’s advice to practice social distancing.
“Please stop going out,” he wrote. “Passing this around will mean it just takes longer till we’re back to normal. Please stay safe people. Two weeks away from anyone else outside your family should see this gone. It’s that simple. Please stay in.”
The day before Sam confirmed he had tested positive for Covid-19, but had no idea where he and Linda had contracted the virus.
“Well. It’s official. I am positive for CoronaVirus,” he wrote. “I don’t know if I’m happy or gutted. Probably a bit of both. I hope it’s a one time thing coz I don’t want this again.”
He added: “The NHS staff have been beyond incredible. The work and care they are giving at the front line with so little resources is astounding. They’re fearless. The debt of gratitude I owe them for getting my girl back to a sense of normality will be owed for the rest of my life.
“Please take care of yourselves. Isolating is the only way now. This has to be stopped and only we can do it. Take care of yourselves. Stay safe. Xxx”
A number of other stars have tested positive for coronavirus in the last two weeks, including Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, Idris Elba and former GMTV host Fiona Phillips.
James Bond star Olga Kurylenko shared her diagnosis last week, but has since said she’s “completely recovered”.
