Love Island’s Voting Figures Reveal The Final Was Closer Than Anyone Thought

Voting figures for the Love Island final have revealed that it was closer than anyone could have imagined.

The reality show’s first ever winter series was won by Paige Turley and Finn Tapp last week, with Siannise Fudge and Luke Trotman finishing in second place.

However, it has now been revealed that there was less than one percent separating the top two couples.

Paige and Finn collected 44.52% of the final vote, and the £50,000 grand prize, which they chose to split between them.

Earlier in the evening, Demi Jones and Luke Mabbott were eliminated when they scored 9.62%, and Jess Gale and Ched Uzor came fourth with 2.25%.

After they were announced the winners, Paige was given the choice of whether to keep the £50,000 prize for herself or share it with Finn.

She opted to split the money with the semi-professional footballer.

Afterwards she said she nearly jokingly pretended to keep it, saying: “I should have said ‘I’ll take the £50,000’ and share £5,000 with you! I would have made a joke (about keeping it), but I thought ‘What if he seriously thinks that’s my answer?’ I just thought ‘I’m not going to even put my foot in it!’”

The final episode of the winter series of Love Island came just over a week after former Love Island host Caroline Flack died at the age of 40.

An emotional Laura Whitmore paid tribute to the presenter during the live final, telling viewers that it has been “extremely difficult coming to terms with the loss of our friend and colleague Caroline”.

She added: “We’re thinking of her family and everyone who knew her at this time.

“Caroline loved Love Island, she loved love, and that’s why tonight’s final is dedicated to her.”

A montage of footage from Caroline’s time hosting Love Island and companion show Aftersun was then played.
