Girl, 10, Who Died After Being Hit By Ambulance Named As Shaniqua Loftman-Smith

Shaniqua Loftman-Smith was hit by an ambulance just days before Christmas.

A 10-year-old girl who died in hospital after a collision with an ambulance has been named by her family as Shaniqua Loftman-Smith.

In a statement confirming the victim’s name, Nottinghamshire Police said her family had shared a photograph of Shaniqua and asked that their privacy be respected.

Shaniqua was hit by the ambulance as it was answering an emergency call in Bulwell, Nottingham, on Sunday December 22.

The force said the girl had been in a critical condition in hospital after the incident, but confirmed on Wednesday she had died.

A police statement said: “The ambulance was responding to an emergency call at the time of the collision in Low Wood Road, between Hempshill Lane and Seller’s Wood Drive, Bulwell, at 6.30pm on Sunday December 22. The girl was a pedestrian.

“Nottinghamshire Police would like to offer their condolences to the girl’s family, who have asked for privacy at this difficult time.”

Officers from the county’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit are continuing inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Anyone who witnessed the crash, or who has any information or dash cam footage, is asked to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 650 of December 22.
