With X Factor’s ratings at an all-time low, the long-runnning ITV show could do with a rethink – and Craig Revel Horwood reckons he’s come up with the perfect solution.
Instead of changing the format of the singing competition yet again, the Strictly Come Dancing judge thinks Simon Cowell and his fellow judges – past and present – should all sign up for the BBC dance show in the ultimate TV crossover.
And let’s face it, Strictly’s Got The X Factor does have a certain ring about it.
Asked by The Guardian who his dream Strictly celeb would be, Craig revealed it would be Simon, adding that he’d “love” to see a Strictly/X Factor mash-up become a reality.
“I’d love an X Factor does Strictly crossover with all their judges,” he said. “Sharon Osbourne and Louis Walsh would be brilliant too. Nicole Scherzinger or Cheryl Cole would probably win it, because they’re fierce dancers.”
Genius.
Craig also revealed that he developed his famous catchphrases – like “fab-u-lous” – because he is often pushed for time.
“There’s only two minutes for the judges’ comments and Bruno [Tonioli] takes up a lot of that, so we’re often pushed for time,” he explained.
“If I’m last to speak, they’ll come to me and say I’ve got literally 10 seconds, so it’s difficult to do a full critique. Instead I’ll just say one word, like fab-u-lous or dis-ah-ster.”
Former Emmerdale actor Kelvin Fletcher was crowned the 2019 winner of Strictly alongside his professional partner Oti Mabuse.
They became the 17th couple to lift the Glitterball trophy, after impressing viewers in this month’s final.
