Will Bayley has admitted he thought he’d broken his leg after he injured himself during rehearsals for Strictly Come Dancing on Friday.
The Paralympian can be seen lying in agony on the floor of the Strictly studio after he jumped from a table whilst practising his jive routine.
Pictures show his professional partner Janette Manrara kneeling next to him as concerned producers check on the star.
During Saturday’s Halloween special, the video footage of the moment Will sustained the injury was not shown, but the sportsman explained the extent of his injuries.
“I jumped off a table and as I landed I landed with straightened legs,” he explained. “I thought I broke my leg because I never felt anything like it before.
“To hear the words I absolutely can’t dance was just really gutting for me. But I need to recover now and come back even stronger next week.”
Despite some reports that Will’s injury could see him making an early exit from the show, he reassured fans that his injury isn’t as bad as first thought, but doctors forbid him from dancing.
His partner Janette was also hopeful he will be back on the dance floor next week, revealing he is at home “taking care of himself, icing, resting and fingers crossed he comes back next week”.
Professional dancer Neil Jones was also missing from Saturday night’s live show after suffering injuries in rehearsals.
Kevin Clifton stepped in to dance with former Lioness Alex Scott at the eleventh hour after Neil injured himself on Saturday morning.
It was a better weekend for Michelle Visage who ended up at the top of the Strictly leaderboard with a score of 39 after wowing the judges with a foxtrot to the Addams Family theme alongside her partner Gionvanni Pernice.
One celebrity will be eliminated from the show during Sunday night’s knock-out episode.
