Politics Is The Main Driver Of Transphobic Harassment Online In The UK

A new report by Ditch The Label shows that politics is the main driver for harassment of the trans community online in the UK. The study assessed over 1.5 million instances of transphobia online in the past three and a half years. It found that while race is the most common driver in the US, in the UK the majority of abuse, 27 percent, was motivated by politics. CEO Liam Hackett points to the UK Government consultation on the Gender Recognition Act in 2018 as a driver for transphobia becoming politicised in the UK.
