Strictly Come Dancing fans have been left furious at the early exit of Dev Griffin and Dianne Buswell.
The pair were voted off the BBC ballroom show on Sunday night, after landing in the dance-off alongside Viscountess Emma Weymouth and partner Aljaz Skorjanec.
Dev and Dianne’s appearance in the bottom two had been a surprise, given their Cha Cha to Sam Smith’s Dancing With A Stranger had scored them 27 points and a mid-table position in the leaderboard.
Dev had also emerged as one of the front runners of the competition last week, when his Aladdin-themed Street routine scored 36 pout of a possible 40.
His and Dianne’s shock exit sparked some passionate responses on Twitter…
After all four judges voted to keep Emma and Aljaz, there was complete and utter bewilderment as to how Dev and Dianne had even landed in the dance-off
There was soon finger-pointing at the judges for under-marking their Cha Cha and feigning shock at then seeing them in the dance-off
Some fans also claimed they could not get through to vote for Dev, sparking inevitable “fix” accusations
HuffPost UK has contacted a Strictly spokesperson for comment and is awaiting a response.
Dev said he was “gutted” to be voted out so soon, after the results of the dance-off were announced on Sunday’s show.
Dianne could also be seen sobbing as the pair performed their farewell dance.
The pair later took to social media, emphasising their sadness to be out of the competition.
Dev wrote on Instagram: “It’s been incredible! I wish I could have stayed a bit longer but sadly my strictly ride has come to an end.”
Dianne added: “I’m truly gutted as @dev_101 really had so much potential and I wanted to teach him so much more. I won’t lie I’m devastated.”
There are now 12 remaining couples left in the competition, who will take to the floor once again when Strictly continues on Saturday at 6.40pm on BBC One.
