Breaking Bad star Robert Forster has died at the age of 78.
The actor, who played vacuum salesman Ed Galbraith in the Netflix show died on Friday, following a battle with brain cancer.
Robert’s Breaking Bad co-star Bryan Cranston was one of the first to pay tribute.
“I’m saddened today by the news that Robert Forster has passed away,” Bryan shared on Twitter.. ’A lovely man and a consummate actor. I met him on the movie Alligator (pic) 40 years ago, and then again on BB. I never forgot how kind and generous he was to a young kid just starting out in Hollywood. RIP Bob.”
The actor appeared in over one hundred movies during his five decade-long career, including The Descendants, Me, Myself & Irene, The Fallen, Twin Peaks: The Return and Mulholland Drive.
He was nominated for a Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for his portrayal of bondsman Max Cherry in the 1997 Quentin Tarantino film, Jackie Brown.
Speaking about how that role revived his career, Forster said in 2011: “I said to him [Tarantino], ‘Look, I appreciate it, but I don’t think they’ll let you hire me.’ And he said, ‘I hire anybody I want.’ And that’s when the world stopped.
“I could not believe that I was going to get another shot at this business. But this guy gave it to me. He gave me a gift, the size of which cannot be exaggerated… Jackie Brown pulled me out of the fire.”
His Jackie Brown co-star Samuel L. Jackson also paid tribute, tweeting: “RIP Robert Forster!! A truly class act/actor!!”
Robert recently reprised his role as Ed Galbraith in the Breaking Bad spin-off movie El Camino, which was released on Netflix on the day of his death.
He is survived by four children, four grandchildren, and his long-time partner, Denise Grayson.
