The family of Mark Duggan – whose killing sparked civil unrest across England in 2011 – has settled a High Court damages claim against the Metropolitan Police over his shooting.
At a brief hearing in London on Thursday, Mr Justice Stewart approved a confidential settlement of Duggan’s family’s claim against the Met.
The court heard that the parties had agreed terms – which are confidential at the request of the Duggan family – following a mediation last month.
A statement on behalf of the family said: “The settlement was made after both parties engaged in mediation and reached an agreed position without acceptance of liability on the part of the MPS or its officers.
“Both sides have agreed to bring all proceedings concerning the death of Mr Duggan to a conclusion and move forward in the best interests of all those involved.”
