Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Grange Hill star Anna Quayle has died at the age of 86.
Acting industry publication The Stage was the first to report the news of her death, confirming she died on 16 August.
Anna had been diagnosed with Lewy body dementia in 2012.
The actress was known for starring as Mrs Monroe on BBC kids series Grange Hill, a role she played in 85 episodes from 1990 until 1994.
Chitty Chitty Bang Bang fans will also remember as Baroness Bomburst in the 1968 family film.
Born in Warwickshire, Anna was the daughter of actor Douglas Quayle and soon followed in his footsteps when she began acting at the age of three.
After graduating from RADA in 1956, she had a number of films roles in 1964′s A Hard Day’s Night and comedy spy film Casino Royale.
She also appeared in The Avengers TV series and Brideshead Revisited.
As well as her work on screen, Anna’s career extended to the stage, and in 1963, she received a Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical for her role in Stop The World – I Want To Get Off.
Her last credited role was in the 1999 TV series Adam’s Family Tree, where she played Celina Spookfinder.
