The line-up for the series, which kicks off in January, has been teased on the show’s Instagram for the last week, with the TV personality’s spot on the line-up being confirmed in a post on social media.
Best known for his work on hit shows like Strike It Rich and My Kind Of Music, Michael’s career came to an abrupt halt after a man was found dead at his home after a party in 2001.
While his career has never fully returned to where it was before, Michael has made a handful of TV appearances, including on Celebrity Big Brother, where he finished in second place, as well as a recent interview on Piers Morgan’s Life Stories.
He said: “I’m delighted to say that I’ll be joining the Dancing on Ice line up for 2020. I’m looking forward to meeting Holly and Phil.
“I’m very excited…it’s performance time!”
Meanwhile, Maura’s spot on the show was confirmed on Tuesday’s episode of This Morning at around the same time.
Presenters Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield – who also host Dancing On Ice – made the announcement while Maura stood in a makeshift snow globe, sporting a suitably wintery attire.
Maura was among the stand-out contestants on this year’s Love Island, making it all the way to the final alongside Curtis Pritchard, with whom she’s still romancing outside of the show.
She said of her upcoming Dancing On Ice stint: “I’ve skated once in my life for fun, so I’ve no experience at all. I’m up for the challenge. I’m more excited than scared. I’m competitive so I think that will drive me.”
Dancing On Ice returns to our screens in January 2020, with other rumoured contestants including Diversity dancer Perri Kiely, Steps singer H Watkins and presenter Joe Swash.
Also tipped to appear are Coronation Street star Lisa George, model Caprice and magician Ben Hanlin, who The Sun has claimed was a last-minute replacement for Kelvin Fletcher, after he was poached by Strictly Come Dancing.
This Morning airs every weekday from 10.30am on ITV.
