The latest addition to the 13 Reasons Why cast, Grace Saif, appears to have taken herself off social media, following a backlash towards her new character.
The 23-year-old actress recently joined the controversial Netflix series for its third series, taking over narrating duties as newcomer Ani Achola.
However, some fans have taken a dislike to the character and her prominence in the show despite not being featured in the first two series, taking this out on Grace.
Seemingly as a result of this, Grace has now removed herself from Instagram, deleting all of her previous posts and her profile picture, although her account itself is still active.
HuffPost UK has contacted representatives for both Netflix and Grace Saif for comment.
Fellow 13 Reasons Why star Timothy Granaderos recently stuck up for Grace on his own Instagram, reminding fans that online abuse goes against the message of the show.
Alongside a photo of himself, Grace and other co-stars, he wrote: “One of the underlining themes in our show is to take care of each other. I’ve seen some pretty nasty things being said online, concerning the introduction of a new character.
“Y’all are passionate & we love you for that, but PLEASE PLEASE try to be kind and respect the work of the talented actress/actor behind the character.”
The third series of 13 Reasons Why debuted two weeks ago, picking up eight months after the dramatic events of the season two finale.
Since its debut in 2017, the teen drama has repeatedly come under fire over its graphic content, largely relating to suicide.
In the lead-up to the third series’ arrival on Netflix, the streaming platform made the decision to go back and censor one of the show’s most controversial graphic scenes from its first series.
13 Reasons Why will return next to Netflix year for a fourth and final series.
