It’s been 12 years (!!!) since we bid the residents of Orange County farewell, but Rachel Bilson and Adam Brody have given The O.C. fans a peek at what Summer and Seth may look like now.
Princess Sparkle and Captain Oates (if you know, you know) had an impromptu reunion after they bumped into each other at an airport.
And it really was a case of “California, here we come”, as the pair where both flying out of New York and into the state where the hit 2000s teen drama was set.
Rachel, who played Summer Roberts, shared a picture of herself and former on-screen boyfriend Adam Brody (aka Seth Cohen) on Instagram, writing: “Ran into my ol buddy from jfk to lax.”
Referencing the show’s famous theme tune, which was provided by Phantom Planet, Rachel added: ”#californiaherewecome.”
The pair’s reunion got nostalgic fans right in the feels…
As well as portraying the ultimate teen couple on screen in The O.C., Rachel and Adam also dated for three years until they split in 2006, shortly after filming the final series.
Rachel, 37, then went on to date Hayden Christensen for nine years after they met on the set of film Jumper.
Prior to their split in 2017, they welcomed a daughter, Briar Rose, in 2014.
Meanwhile, Adam, 39, found love with another US teen drama alumni, marrying Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester (aka Blair Waldorf) in 2014.
The couple have a four-year-old daughter, Arlo Day.
Just this week, Rachel spoke of her desire to reunite the show’s cast on a reboot of The O.C.
Speaking to PopWow, she said: “It was such a great show and a great group. I’m still super close with [series creators] Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage. I would trust them with my life. So, anywhere they would go I would follow. Of course, I’d be open to it. It’s a very fond memory for me and something I’m super grateful for.”
Of where she thinks Summer – who married Seth in a flash forward at the end of the final episode – would be now, she added: “I would imagine that she’s had kids. I would also think that she’s fighting for something. Perhaps a cause, or maybe she’s a lawyer.
“She’d definitely have her hand in the philanthropy world. It’d be really interesting to see them as adults.”
Someone, somewhere, please make this happen.
