When he wasn’t busy modelling his stunning hat collection or hollering “Message!” across the villa, Love Island’s Ovie Soko was usually found in the kitchen cooking up a storm.
Now, his culinary displays on the ITV2 reality show have landed his him first TV presenting gig, as it’s been confirmed he’s set to host a cookery segment on This Morning.
Ovie will be cooking brunch for hosts Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford on Thursday, as he’s let loose in the show’s famous kitchen.
In addition, the professional basketball player will be sitting down on the This Morning sofa for an interview following his third-place finish with India Reynolds on this year’s series.
Ovie said: “Message! Cooking on This Morning is going to be dope, but I’ll need to graft hard if my infamous eggs are to live up to the hype for Love Island fans Eamonn and Ruth. They’re daytime royalty after all.”
This Morning’s editor Martin Frizell added: “Here at This Morning we pride ourselves on nurturing and developing new talent. Ovie was undoubtedly one of the most popular Islanders this year and so we’re thrilled to have him on the show as a brand new guest chef.”
Ovie follows in the footsteps of fellow Love Island contestant Maura Higgins in landing a role on the ITV daytime show.
Maura will be acting as an agony aunt, as well as be appearing in her own recurring feature called Maura Than Meets The Eye, in which she’ll be travelling around the UK to take on a variety of challenges.
“I’m getting flutters about joining This Morning. I can’t believe it. It’s beyond my wildest dreams,” she said.
This Morning airs weekdays at 10.30am on ITV.
