BBC Breakfast presenter Steph McGovern has announced she is expecting her first child.
The 37-year-old had previously laughed off rumours she was expecting a baby by claiming that her apparent pregnancy was just extra weight.
The presenter was on the receiving end of a gaffe 18 months ago when she was on TV discussing the Carillion collapse and viewers tweeted her mistakenly congratulating her on her pregnancy.
Steph reacted with humour with a quick comeback by tweeting: “For those who are congratulating me on my ‘pregnancy, I am not ‘with child’, I am ‘with pot belly.’”
But now she has tweeted the opposite.
On Sunday morning she announced on Twitter: “I see my news is out! Yep, I am no longer with pot belly…… I am now with child. #babyonboard.”
Steph and her girlfriend are believed to be expecting the baby in November. Her news has sparked a wave of congratulations from fans.
The social media account of Middlesbrough FC, her football club, even posted a message of congratulations to the team’s famous supporter, saying “Congrats, Steph!”
Congrats Steph!
