Taylor Swift Defended By Cher Amid Scooter Braun Row In Obviously-Iconic Tweet

While stars like Justin Bieber and Demi Lovato have jumped to defend Scooter Braun amid his current row with Taylor Swift, one person who does have the singer’s back is pop diva Cher.

Scooter was publicly called out by Taylor over the weekend, after it was announced that he had bought her old record label, and therefore owned the masters to her first six studio albums, up to and including 2017’s Reputation.

In a Tumblr post, she wrote the situation was her “worst case scenario”, claiming she’d been “bullied… at [Scooter’s] hands for years”, and specifically referencing Kim Kardashian’s infamous phone call leak (more on that here), and Kanye West’s Famous music video, which she branded “revenge porn”.

While Scooter’s famous clients have spoken out in defence of their manager, Taylor has received a supportive tweet from Cher, written in the music legend’s inimitable style.

Responding to a tweet from singer/songwriter Gretchen Peters, which referred to Taylor as “badass”, Cher wrote (interspersed with liberal use of emojis): “Unfortunately Can Relate 2 Having Millions Stolen,A FEW TIMES. Some Close,Some Very Close,Some Supposed 2 Protect Me.”

Offering Taylor her unique brand of advice, Cher continued: “PULL UP UR BIG-GIRL G-STRING, PULL ON UR RHINESTONE COMBAT BOOTS,KICK SOME ASS, &REMEMBER ‘YOU ARE A RICH MAN’.”

That last bit is a reference to an interview Cher gave in 1996, when she revealed that after being advised by her mother to “settle down” and find a rich man to marry, she responded: “But mom, I am a rich man.”

Taylor clearly appreciated this quote, featuring it in the first moments of her latest music video, You Need To Calm Down.

Aside from Cher, Taylor has received supportive messages from her former Bad Blood co-stars, Cara Delevingne and Martha Hunt, as well as fellow musicians Halsey, Iggy Azalea and Todrick Hall, himself a former client of Scooter Bruan.

Meanwhile, according to the website DoesFollow, pop stars Beyoncé, Rihanna, Adele and Lana Del Rey are among those who have unfollowed Scooter on Twitter in the 24 hours after her initial blog post.
