Glastonbury Security Guard Found Dead In Tent After 34C Heatwave

A Glastonbury security guard was found dead in his tent on the last day of the music festival.

The body of a man, in his 60s, was found on Sunday at around 5pm. His death is being treated as non-suspicious.

A G4S spokesman said: “At 5pm on Sunday 30 June, one of our employees was found dead in his tent at Glastonbury Festival, where he had been working as a security officer.

“The next of kin have been informed and our thoughts are with his loved ones at this difficult time.”  

The guard had been working night shifts at the festival but had not been on duty during the 24 hours preceding his death. 

An Avon and Somerset Police spokesman said: “At 5pm yesterday we were made aware of the sudden death of a man in his 60s on one of the campsites at Glastonbury Festival.

“Officers attended and are satisfied the man’s death is not suspicious. The coroner has been informed.”

It comes as the festival at Worthy Farm, more famed for mud and rain, saw temperatures reach a sizzling 34C.

There were 850 water points across the 900-acre site for people to refill their reusable bottles, with 37 WaterAid kiosks.
