Piers Morgan has stuck up for Amanda Holden amid reports of her ongoing feud with Phillip Schofield.
The controversial Good Morning Britain presenter shared his thoughts on Amanda and Phillip’s supposed beef, and made it clear he was siding with his former Britain’s Got Talent co-star.
After paying a visit to Amanda’s new show on Heart breakfast, one fan tweeted Piers to say: “Good for you Mr Morgan. At a time when Amanda is getting such a lot of unnecessary criticism for being honest, it’s good to see she has some genuine friends.”
He swiftly responded with his own post, noting: “Trust me,[Amanda] is one of the nicest & most genuine people in this tawdry business – and I’ve met most of them…”
Amanda and Phillip’s feud is thought to stem back to when Holly Willoughby took time off This Morning to co-present I’m A Celebrity in 2018.
While reports suggested earlier this year that Amanda had been told she would be filling in for Holly, the job ended up going to Rochelle Humes, with The Sun suggesting Phillip had pushed for this to happen.
On Monday, Amanda addressed the rumours for the first time, explaining: “I mean, you know it’s not great waking up to headlines like that.”
She also claimed she had tried to reach out to Phillip “months ago”, by offering to meet up for a coffee, though he apparently “didn’t reply to her text”.
Phillip himself addressed the reports on Sunday evening, in a tweet with a similar sentiment to Amanda.
He wrote: “The end of another really sad weekend. When you try for 35 years to be the easiest, most fun person to work with and you read such hurtful and wildly untrue stories from nameless ‘sources’.
“Obviously I’ll take it on the chin.. I just hope you know me better.”
HuffPost UK contacted Phillip’s representatives at the time, but did not receive a reply.
