A 21-year-old woman has died after being attacked by three sharks on a family holiday in the Bahamas.

Jordan Lindsey was snorkelling off Rose Island, northeast of Nassau, when she was attacked. Her parents and other family members spotted the sharks and yelled warnings, but she didn’t hear them in time.

An online fundraiser has been set up by a family member to bring transport Lindsey’s body back to her home for burial in southern California.

Describing her as a “beloved daughter, sister, girlfriend and friend, it said: “Jordan had the most beautiful, gentle soul and she will be missed deeply.” It added that any money raised beyond the expenses needed to transport her remains would be donated to a local animal welfare charity that Lindsey supported.
