10-Year-Old Girl Scales “The Nose” of El Capitan

Ten-year-old Selah Schneiter from Colorado became the youngest ever climber to take on the over 3,000 foot ascent up “The Nose” of the El Capitan mountain, in Yosemite National Park. The trek took five days, as Schneiter climbed with her dad and a family friend. Once believed to be unclimbable, the formidable mountain face has become a challenge for those in the climbing community, who scale it with and without equipment. In 2017, US climber Alex Honnold became the first person to ever free solo El Capitan, ascending completely without safety equipment.
